What Counts as Proof That a Yono Game Supports UPI?
Short answer: the only strong proof that a Yono game supports UPI is a dated check of the app's own deposit page showing UPI as an option. Adverts, agent messages, and screenshots from other people are claims, not proof. Also note that since 1 May 2026, Section 7 of the Online Gaming Act, 2025 bars banks and payment services from processing payments for online money gaming services.
Why UPI Claims Need Checking
"UPI supported" is one of the most common phrases in Yono game promotions. It is also one of the least checked. Payment options for these apps change often, can differ between users, and are sometimes routed through third-party payment pages. A claim made months ago may not be true today.
The UPI Evidence Ladder
All Yono India ranks evidence from weakest to strongest. Only the top level can move the UPI field on a game page to "Confirmed".
| Level | Evidence | How we treat it |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Weakest | Advert, Telegram post, or agent message saying "UPI supported" | A claim only. Does not change the status. |
| 2 | A screenshot shared by another user | Unverified. Screenshots can be old, cropped, or edited. |
| 3 | The app's own website or FAQ mentions UPI | Supporting evidence, but it may be out of date. Can support "Mixed / Unclear". |
| 4. Strongest | UPI shown on the app's own deposit page, checked and recorded on a stated date | Can support "Confirmed", with the check date shown. |
We call the gap between level 1 and level 4 the difference between "UPI claimed" and "UPI verified". Most apps never get past "claimed".
What the 2025 Act Says About Payments
Section 7 of the Promotion and Regulation of Online Gaming Act, 2025 says no bank, financial institution, or other person facilitating financial transactions shall facilitate any payment towards an online money gaming service. Section 9 sets a penalty of up to three years in prison or a fine of up to ₹1 crore, or both, for breaking it.
For users, that means two things. First, a UPI option that works today may stop working as payment providers comply. Second, an app pushing unusual payment routes, such as paying an individual's UPI ID or a personal account, is a warning sign, not a feature.
Red Flags in UPI Claims
- You are asked to pay a person's UPI ID instead of a payment page inside the app.
- An "agent" asks you to share your UPI PIN or approve a collect request you did not start.
- The UPI option appears only after you contact support on Telegram or WhatsApp.
- You are promised that a "processing fee" will release a stuck withdrawal.
If you have lost money this way, call the National Cyber Crime Helpline on 1930 or report it at cybercrime.gov.in as quickly as possible.
Where the UPI Status Stands Today
As of 28 September 2026, no app in the directory has a completed level 4 check, so every UPI field on the site reads "Not Yet Reviewed". We will publish a cross-app UPI tracker only once real checks exist. A tracker full of blanks would help no one.
